One of various mock project briefs set by Inkygoodness Collective, as part of their Make Your Mark 10-week programme for artists and illustrators.
Here, the Costa Rica Tourism Board had commissioned a series, taking inspiration from historic and contemporary travel posters and the rich culture of Costa Rica.
My posters feature three different activities, along with three different birds and three different fruits to showcase the biodiversity and tropical nature of Costa Rica. Each poster also includes a variation of hand-painted decorations found on Cosa Rican oxcarts.
I enjoyed this project because upon researching the country, it brought me back to my own childhood from the Philippines. I loved the the rich patterns, colours, hand-made signs, and the wonderful people who make the culture really come alive.
Artwork has not been commissioned by the Costa Rica Tourism Board.
